THE SUTTON STUDIO FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
Owner / President
Directed all aspects of the business across two locations (Louisville and Bardstown), including curriculum development, marketing, scheduling, human resources, payroll, and account receivable.
Managed staff of up to 11 comprised of dance, acting, voice, and piano teachers, administrative staff, and student teachers.
Developed and taught for a musical theatre program called “One Duck Productions,” which included a weekly 3-hour class / rehearsal, in which a one-hour musical was staged, rehearsed, and ultimately performed in a theatre with full lights, sound, sets, and costumes. Over the 4 years of the program, productions included Disney’s Aladdin Jr., Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr., and two original musical reviews.
Taught private voice lessons for a studio of approximately two dozen studios. Instructional philosophy and pedagogy focused on 1) proper vocal technique across multiple styles including classical, musical theatre, jazz, pop, rock, and country, 2) performance quality, and 3) repertoire development.
Produced and directed two annual recitals at each location, with full tech, focused on developing performer confidence and self-esteem.
Coordinated the Studio’s competition teams, which competed regionally and nationally each year since 2011.
Organized multiple performance opportunities in the community for students each year, including participation in The Kentucky State Fair, The Bourbon Festival, the Caufield’s Halloween Parade, The Bardstown Christmas Parade, The Southwest Festival, and The Bardstown Arts and Crafts festival.

STAGEONE FAMILY THEATRE
Education Associate 6/17 – 6/18
Disney Musicals in Schools: 17-week program, comprised of 90-minute sessions 3 times a week teaching, coaching, and assisting Louisville area teachers as they learn to put on their very first school musical.
Residencies: Developed and executed educational programming based on using theatre / drama to teach students about subjects including history, government, science, mathematics, conflict resolution, and language arts.
Storytellers: Researched and selected children’s books aligning to an educational theme, culminating in a performance experience to teach kids life and social skills through drama.
Summer Camps: Hiring and curriculum development for StageOne Drama Works (a summer educational program for kids 4 – 18 years of age), including performance, technical theatre, and administrative learning opportunities.
Other administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Associated Artistic Director and Education Director.
